English River System Fly-in Fishing

Unexpected Lake outpost is located on the English River system in the Oak Lake West Provincial Park. This fishing outpost truly has it all! The English River system is world-renowned for its incredible walleye, northern pike, muskellunge and smallmouth bass fishing.

Unexpected Lake is a flowage system with two rivers entering the lake from the north and northwest. The dark-colored water with current breaks and rock hump structure is teeming with walleyes for fast action, even in the hot summer months. This lake is a walleye angler’s dream!  Walleyes are abundant with trophy-sized fish caught and released by each group for the enjoyment of future anglers.

For the angler looking for muskies, this system produces some of the best muskie fishing around. Muskies are caught and released each season in the 40-50″ range. Smallmouth bass are also plentiful, and what can we say about the northern pike, except “monsters”!

Outpost Cabin

Unexpected Lake outpost accommodates groups up to eight people. The cabin has a large screened-in porch, two bedrooms, and a roomy kitchen/dining area. Rustic tongue and groove pine lines the interior, and comfortable twin beds, hot and cold running water, a shower, electric fridge and upright chest freezer, propane stove, and electric lights run by a 24-hour generator service offer the convenience and comfort of home. Also, there is propane lighting so guests can enjoy a peaceful sunset. Lastly, there is a screened-in fish house for your cleaning comfort when you come off the lake late in the evening.
